Maybe We Made a Mistake

Baby, maybe we made a mistake
Perhaps a strategic error
As we both continue to lie awake
With nagging thoughts to the barer
Of perhaps a startling revelation
That perhaps all is not well and fine
Or perhaps a more startling revolution
Perhaps we're on to something new this time
Maybe we rushed too fast into it
But even faster out of this
Perhaps we were afraid of possible grit
That we ignored the potential bliss
And we make each other better
It's possible we overlooked words
To merely focus on the letters
Perhaps we're both being absurd
But it is possible we actually screwed up
Maybe we failed ourselves after all
Like the precautions were way too much
Like we were too scared to fall
Or too scared to break
Whatever it was, Baby, maybe we made a mistake
Then again, Maybe not...

A Poem of Dedication

Dark hazel eyes unsure of what is to come
In uncertain and sanguine expectancy
Viewing the current situation as cumbersome
Yet find that in her heart she has a vacancy
Black hair a touch frazzled and frayed
Straightforward with authentic virtues
She realizes she cannot let this fade
So with a slightly indecisive purview
With eagerness and insomniac nights
She longingly yearns for the response
Perhaps he might readjust his sights
That the affair might be ensconced
That failure might be an alternative
All too unreasonable for both parties
Imminent success is a virtual imperative
With the necessity to proceed smartly
Moving in precipitance being risky
A deceleration could be warranted
Why travel the billows so quickly
And journey to the abhorrent abyss
Whereby the blunders of the past
Come back to haunt like apparitions?
The consequences of advancing too fast
Could cause unsafe conditions
Perhaps her demeanor is newfangled
As are the ideas in his brain
Perhaps this woven-web will be less tangled

And she and he are actually sane

Near to Something That Actually Exists

Streets lit, glowing lamps shining bright
In uncharted territory now
It seems the end is not within sight
So I don’t know if I’m going down
And with her black hair waving I ask
With a giant smile, “Missy, where too?”
“I don’t know, but I cannot look back
And I need to explain this to you

My life has been turned upside down
With my head buried underground
All my life I searched for this
But it just left me filled with emptiness
So I climbed in this car for warmth
And now my heart is again torn
So excuse me while I make you feel
Like you were ‘this close’ to something real"

I pulled over to the curbside
Putting it in park, I spoke my mind
“I don’t need one in whom to confide
Believe it or not, I was just fine”
Her nerves regressed and she gave a smile
And decided to ask me to date
I said, “I guess it’s been a while”
Maybe it was luck or maybe fate

My life had been turned upside down
With my head buried underground
All my life I searched for this
But it just left me filled with emptiness
So I climbed in this car for warmth
And now my heart was again torn
So excuse me while you make me feel
Like I was ‘this close’ to something real

As we traveled down the street
There was a sign marked “Dead End”
Seeing the journey was complete
We decided not to pretend
The façade that became of it all
Faded as fast as possible
As we opened the doors to both withdraw
We were in a car that we thought was nautical
But thankfully we read the writing on the wall

Our lives have been turned upside down
With our heads buried underground
All our lives we searched for this
But it just left us filled with emptiness
So we climbed out of this car for warmth
But now our hearts aren’t again torn
So excuse us while we can still feel
Like you we’re this close to something real

Throwing Caution to the Hurricane

Immorality and unscrupulousness
All balled into one
In the specious, ostensible lucidness
I leave myself stunned
With such aspirations delayed
I destroy myself
But is it possible to be reprobate
If you need someone else?
The vamp taunts me with her wanions
I feel I must obey
With delectate colloquy I see a need for a companion
Is this to be my fate?
Casuistic and illogical premonitions
Escape my brain
I am beguiled by this superstition
And my soul feigns
Conflicted by zoanthropic feelings
I am led to the slaughter
I must use circumspection in this dealing
Or I shall be a lamb to the slaughter

Love does not conquer all
God does
So let this betrayal be small
And let this amount of blood be enough

Spatial Reasoning

It hasn’t always been an easy road
Since the day I met you I have been
On the waves tossed about to and fro
I’m a man of a million regrets
I’ve been everywhere
Traveled here and there
But of all the things
That this life brings

I miss you more and more
With each passing day
Need to get out and settle the score
Can’t keep living this way
Because I can’t let you walk
Away without having talked
Of all my biggest regrets
Losing you might be death of me yet

It hasn’t always been an easy life
Since the day I was born I have had
To endure being under the knife
Success and failure have driven me mad
I’ve done everything
But it drives me to drink
That I let you go
So this is to let you know

I miss you more and more
With each passing day
Need get out and settle the score
Can’t keep living this way
Because I can’t let you walk
Away without having talked
Of all my biggest regrets
Losing you might be death of me yet

And with a burning heart
And an ailing mind
I can’t stand to be apart
Feels like I’m confined
Within the prison of distance
So with great persistence
I must tell you that I don’t know
If I can live without you or let you go

You Deserve Better

Your beauty knows end
But they do not know that
As soon as it starts it ends
And it makes me so sad
They don’t appreciate you
Like I do
And they can’t see what I see
They can’t see your beauty

You deserve so much better
Than what you’ve been getting
Hush, now and let it in

Babe, you’re completely beautiful
The way you tell your jokes is impeccable
The way you smile is incredible
The way you move is so magical
Let’s not hesitate, let’s let it go
So we can just keep dancing ‘round in circles

You're graceful and sweet
But they throw you away
With your gifts so unesteemed
They let you get away
Blissfully unaware
With no cares
They let you walk out that door
But I can see you're worth more

You deserve so much better
Than what you’ve been getting
Hush, now and let it in

Babe, you’re completely beautiful
The way you tell your jokes is impeccable
The way you smile is incredible
The way you move is so magical
Let’s not hesitate, let’s let it go
So we can just keep dancing ‘round in circles

Discarded and used
They didn't love you for you
Chasing what they thought was right
And missing the diamond in front of their eyes
But I won't make the same mistake
Gotta get while the gettin's good
So this is now make or break
Don't let me be misunderstood
If I asked you to say yes, you would?

You deserve so much better
Than what you’ve been getting
Hush, now and let it in

Babe, you’re completely beautiful
The way you tell your jokes is impeccable
The way you smile is incredible
The way you move is so magical
Let’s not hesitate, let’s let it go
So we can just keep dancing ‘round in circles

Intimidating Assurances

Looking at you somehow takes my breath away
Like a little kid’s crush, my mouth moves in vain
No sounds protrude when I look at you
No telling from whence this feeling grew
All I know is that I cannot resist
The idea of taking this risk

Sophisticated
Yet down to earth
Beauty conflated
I need to get there first

How easily your words flow
From your beautiful lips
Dripping with honey so
Complimenting to your hips
Your sarcasm has such restraint
Clothed in humility
And wrapped in constraint
Resisting is a futility

Thinking of you somehow makes me go insane
Like a sleepless night, I try to look away
To no avail, my eyes turn to you
It’s saying no, my mind has reproved
The thought of me taking a useless risk
Captivated, I cannot resist

Sophisticated
Yet down to earth
Beauty conflated
I need to get there first

How easily your words flow
From your beautiful lips
Dripping with honey so
Complimenting to your hips
Your sarcasm has such restraint
Clothed in humility
And wrapped in constraint
Resisting is a futility

Mature with defining wisdom
Your independence is intimidating
You are the most beautiful in God’s Kingdom
Your campaign is a success in this head you’re invading
Banal attempts to resist your songs
That ring on and on with the sound of your voice
Find me wanting more of attributes what I have so longed
Your dainty sarcasm could make me lose my composure and poise

Sophisticated
Yet down to earth
Beauty conflated
I need to get there first

How easily your words flow
From your beautiful lips
Dripping with honey so
Complimenting to your hips
Your sarcasm has such restraint
Clothed in humility
And wrapped in constraint
Resisting is a futility
